A day in the life of a pug in Portland's Pearl District. "Dogs have given us their absolute all. We are the center of their universe. We are the focus of their love and faith and trust. They serve us in return for scraps. It is without a doubt the best deal man has ever made." - Roger Caras

Obsessed!

Must... Play... Ball!
Sigmund's become obsessed with playing fetch! Don't ask me why, but the last 2 weeks he's been walking around with this little ball in his mouth and dropping it at your feet. He's desperate for you to throw it so he can chase it! Then, do it all over again. He gets so excited... That he gets in to a stance and prances right before you throw it. He also stares at it constantly... Probably praying it will move on its own.

Look What I Made!

I figured out how to make dog collars!
So I got this sewing machine recently and I'm teaching myself how to sew.
(That's why Sigmund has been so neglected,)
And I figured, since I spend so much on collars for the little guy,
why not learn to make them myself!
Now I just have to decide which one to keep and which to share!

Sigmund on Tour - Da Tung

Da Tung:
Since we live in such a great city, we decided to show it to you.
(With Sigmund as your tour guide, of course!)
This is "Da Tung." It stands for 'Universal Peace."
It's a replica of a Chinese antique dating back to the Shang Dynasty (1200-1100 B.C.)
The statue stands in the North Park Blocks,
where Sigmund likes to do his "business."
We just make sure he doesn't dare lift his leg on this!

Snow Day!

A surprise snow storm provided just the right opportunity for Sigmund to fall in love with the snow! Our entire city is practically shut-down over three inches of snow (don't laugh) so we took Sigmund out to roam the quiet streets. Beyond not quite knowing where to do his business and some cold paws... He had so much fun! These pictures are of him trying to catch and, of course, EAT snowballs! He also loves to chase the snow you kick up with your feet. I'll post that video later!

Sigmund in the Snow

Sigmund doesn't really like the snow, but he tolerates it!
We took him snow-shoeing this weekend and he did so well... At first. We bundled him up in his wool sweater with his jacket over that and he seemed nice and warm. For the first half hour, he ran up and down the trail, happy as could be! He didn't like sinking in so much, but he kept chugging up the hill. UNTIL - we got to a fork in the road and couldn't decide which way to go. That little "pause" was enough for him to decide he was DONE. He refused to budge. No matter how far away we got from him, what we tried to entice him with, he would not move. We finally went back to check on him and the poor little guy was shivering so hard, we packed him up in his pug pack and headed home. That was it! He had enough! Either that or he's much smarter than we think and figured out how to get a ride!

Pugs in the Pearl Playing Pug-a-War

Action shot!
This is Sigmund and his BPP (Best Pug Pal) playing pug-a-war with the catfish!
Oliver seems to get it more often, but I think that's just because Sigmund wants to chase him.

Little Thief!

Caught red-handed!
Sigmund loves to STEAL things.
He thinks it's funny when I chase him around the house.
But, the look on his face here says to me,
"I'M BUSTED!"

Not... Gonna... Do it

Lately, Sigmund hasn't wanted to even step outside the door. (Could it be all the rain we're getting?) He will fight you. This is a picture of me dragging him off the couch! The funniest part -When we go to leave the building, if he even detects the slightest moisture, he's flat as a pancake on the floor. I literally have to drag his sprawled out body across the marble! It cracks people up! (Not me!)
