A day in the life of a pug in Portland's Pearl District. "Dogs have given us their absolute all. We are the center of their universe. We are the focus of their love and faith and trust. They serve us in return for scraps. It is without a doubt the best deal man has ever made." - Roger Caras

Happy Howl-o-ween!

SIG-MONSTER!
Look at this scary picture I took of Sigmund this morning!
It's from my camera phone and I'm a little creeped out.
He looks like a skeleton!
SCARY!
(He's probably mad because he didn't get to wear his costume)

Howl-a-ween!

Happy Howl-a-ween!

Sigmund - pugkin.
Oliver - Count Pugula.

All I can say - poor dogs! But at least they look like they're enjoying it!

Sigmund Likes to Watch YouTube - In the Light!

We tried again - with a little more light. My place must be dark because this is in the afternoon!

Pug in his Pack

We're off to another Cyclo-cross race and we thought you might like to see Sigmund's role in training.

Every Thursday, Patrick puts him in this backpack and rides to the park for "Cyclo-cross Practice." Sigmund is not only extra weight, but he gets to run around and play in the mud while Patrick trains.

The only problem, getting him back in this pug-pack. He doesn't seem to like it too much. He'll tolerate it, but he's not too keen on getting in it unless you've got some food to give him in exchange. One week Patrick spent a half hour chasing the little guy. Let's just say NO ONE was happy after that practice. But the food trick - works!

Maybe we should market this - "The Pug Pack!"

Sigmund Likes to Watch YouTube

I know it's dark - but it's still so cute to at least see the shadow of Sigmund watching YouTube! I'll try to get him to do it again soon!

"I will never make Sigmund wear a costume!"

Just a little preview of what's to come.

Cyclo-Cross Pug

It's fall - and that means it's time for Cyclo-cross! These are a few pictures to capture Sigmund's adventures on the bike course.

The cow bell - It's a race tradition, so we got Sigmund involved so he can cheer Patrick on too! Ok - so it's a little big. We're working on a smaller one. I don't think he really likes it. He walks around with his head hung down a little. Pour guy - can't figure out why that sound is always following him.

Safety Cone - Sigmund is considered the "Safety Pug." It goes back to a race in Bend. This kid fell and blocked the course for quite a while. So, Sigmund and I had to direct bikes around them. The announcer nicknamed Sigmund, "Safety Pug."

Passed out Pug - This is how tired he is after tromping around through the mud all day. After he races hard for an hour, Patrick says he feels as tired as Sigmund looks.

Pug's Eye View

This is Sigmund on his way to his first Cyclo-cross race! (The whole reason I got a dog - because I got tired of hanging out at the races alone!) Maybe getting the dog helped Patrick get so good... he bumped up to "A's."

Patrick took these pictures to show you how Sigmund LOVES to ride in the car. He's decided he likes to hang his face out the window, but peeking out is not enough. He practically puts his whole body out the window, using the side mirror for leverage. If I'm the only one in the car - and driving - he tries to do this out the driver side window.

Don't worry - we've got the end of his leash wrapped tightly around our hands.
