A day in the life of a pug in Portland's Pearl District. "Dogs have given us their absolute all. We are the center of their universe. We are the focus of their love and faith and trust. They serve us in return for scraps. It is without a doubt the best deal man has ever made." - Roger Caras

Pug in Forest Park

Let's just say Sigmund LOVES to hike. I know, it's hard to believe a pug likes to exercise, but he's such a little adventure dog.

Patrick introduced us to the McClay Trail in Forest Park. It's a fairly gradual incline that spits out right at the Audubon Society and the Adams Community Garden... where I can tend to my organic veggies! With the sun shining today, we opted to get out of bed and spend our morning outside.

The second we hit the trail, Sigmund begins to drag me. So, I let him off the leash (I know, bad pet owner) and he bolts up the trail. He literally runs as fast as he can up the trail, then back down past me, up the hill, then back down the other side... and starts his crazed circle all over again. It's like a giant pug obstacle course! You would think he'd tire out... NOPE! This little guy can go and go. Now, if only I could keep up with him! I'm working on it!

Nothing Beats the Beach

Sigmund and SenatorFrolicking on the beach!
PDXPhotog took this picture of the boys playing chase at the beach in Lincoln City.
(Sigmund's the plump shadow)
We took them over for the day... so Senator could have his first romp in the sand.
What is it about the beach that drives dog's wild?
It's like they know it's THEIR place, a place to be free and run with the wind in their fur.
I guess it speaks to their little souls like it shouts to our's.

While Patrick and Anita are Away....

Sigmund Will Play...

And PLAY!

We headed off to New York City for the weekend and Sigmund headed off to "Doggie Camp," at the Double Dog Ranch. From the looks of these pictures, I'm pretty sure he had a pretty amazing time. Running, chasing, being chased, playing, jumping... you name it, he did it. The owners said Sigmund tried to keep up with the big dogs at all times. He even attempted to jump the river like the rest of them! Let's just say on the ride home, he didn't make it five minutes in the car before he was out! I even found him asleep at home... inside our suitcase!

As for Double Dog Ranch... check out their website. If you live anywhere in Oregon and Washington and need a place to take your dog for the weekend... this is it! It's about an hour above Portland and has got to be HEAVEN for these dogs! It's truly "camp" for your pooch!
