A day in the life of a pug in Portland's Pearl District. "Dogs have given us their absolute all. We are the center of their universe. We are the focus of their love and faith and trust. They serve us in return for scraps. It is without a doubt the best deal man has ever made." - Roger Caras

Pug in a Yoga Pose

This is how I caught Sigmund this morning...
doing yoga with Patrick.

Sigmund's first pose every morning is downward dog. He goes in to that the instant I bust him out of his kennel. But, he's taken a liking to trying to play with Patrick the entire time he tries to do yoga! Poor Patrick - he can't even get on the ground without Sigmund bringing him toys, covering his face in pug kisses, or nibbling on his arms and legs. It's like it's an invitation to pester him until he plays. It must be something about being on his dog level.

The funniest part - I took these pictures at the end of Patrick's yoga session - corpse pose - and check out where Sigmund is! Right on top of him - doing his version of corpse pose! How funny is that? How did he know it was time to settle down? Or maybe that's his, 'I've finally conquered him," pose.

Very Angry Cat

It's not a pug, and it's not in The Pearl... but Sigmund likes this video. It actually makes him bark like crazy!

Sigmund's Learned a Very Bad Trick!

This is the one thing I never thought my little pug would be able to do. Someone suprised us all and learned to jump on to the forbidden zone... THE BED! (more)

City Dog Goes to the Country

Heaven! That's what Sigmund thinks about life in the country. The downtown city dog had his first trip to a farm this weekend.

We went to visit family in Medford and let's just say Sigmund LOVED it! Patrick's grandparents live on a few acres outside of town - and Sigmund got to run, and run, and run, and run - with no leash! He was especially interested in the Chickens and Horses. We could not keep him out of the horse pen... Despite an electric fence! The monster was after one thing - HORSE POOP! YUCK!!!!! I thought for sure this would be the end of him. Despite the horses weighing hundreds of pounds more than him - he decided to take them on. Chasing and barking at them like he was bigger and badder! At one point the horses started bucking, I'm freaking out and Sigmund's going nuts on them. One horse chased him out - but Sigmund went back for more! The only thing that saved him - me shouting his favorite word - "DINNER!" That gets him running back every time. If you notice in the last picture, he has his leash back on. Yep - that's what happens when city dogs goes crazy in the country!

Talk About Fetch!

This is the piece of bamboo Sigmund carried/drug home from the park!

I guess he took the saying, "speak softly and carry a big stick," quite seriously!

And this is not the first time he's done this! When he was just a little puppy he found this six foot twig and carried that back too.

It's pretty hilarious to see this small dog walking down the street running in to things with his big stick.

This is NOT Sigmund...

But it's still hilarious! I don't know what's more funny... the pug or the people laughing! By the way - Sigmund does not condone smoking!!!!! Kick the habit, already! Bad pug! (but funny pug!)

Pig, I Mean Pug in the Pantry

So - I'm in the shower and this is what Sigmund does. Mind you - this is 1pm... (I work late,) and he's already eaten breakfast and lots of treats - but he decides he needs a snack. I found him in the pantry digging away and biting at his food bag on the floor! He made one tiny hole - enough to get out once piece at a time. Good thing my shower was short... Otherwise I think he might have ripped an even bigger hole!

So what do you think? If I just let Sigmund have the whole bag of food... How much would he really eat? My guess... Until he popped! And then I'd really have a mess to clean up!

Busted!

Sigmund didn't want to get up this morning...
So I let him "get up" in my bed!
I NEVER do that.
You guys already know my issue with dirty dogs
hanging out in my bed.
BUT... Look at that face!
He crawled right under the covers and settled in,
even placing his little head on the pillow.
Now - if he would just stop SNORING!

Little Beggar!

Sigmund is such the little beggar. Who knows why! We don't feed him from the table, we try really hard not to give him food from our plates, or give in to his hungry eyes... But he still begs!!!!

This is him staring Patrick down one morning, eyeing his cereal. Like that look is going to make you say, "Ok. Here you go!"

You can't even turn your back for a minute or he's on the food. Just wait until the next posting... When I show you what he did to his food bag!

Little beggar... And thief!
