Pug on a Hike!
Who says pugs can't hike!
Check out Sigmund on his latest adventure! --- 7 miles!
Patrick loaded up and took Sigmund to "The Gorge," this week. We're trying to gear him up for an overnight backpacking trip later this summer. Since I had to work, this account will have to come from Patrick.
He says he did really well - they did have to stop for a few pug rests, but Sigmund didn't get too tired - until the top of the hill. (you have to think - he's walking two times as far as us - with four legs!) But when it came time for a nap - Patrick says Sigmund laid on his chest and kept watch! He wouldn't sleep - rather - stayed alert while Patrick did. Good guard dog! He even defended him like crazy when a fellow hiker came by. The funny thing, even though he was tired, when it came time to leave - he practically pulled Patrick down the hill... running the whole way!
The pooped pug then slept all the way home and most of the evening! I think he was slightly sore the next day - he kind of hobbled when I took him out for a walk!

Pug in Heaven!
Ok - so I have this thing about dogs in my bed. I don't like it. He's in the dirt, he plays with other dogs and I just think it's gross. BUT on vacation - he got to jump all over the hotel beds. Our bed at home is so high - he can't jump up on it. Not at the hotel. He was playing, jumping from bed to bed... then in the mornings we would like him climb in bed and cuddle! Good thing they change the sheets everyday!
Here's another crazy dog pic! Psycho!

Pug on the Road
On the road again...
Let's just say Sigmund LOVED vacation. Riding in the car with his "peeps," lounging on the bed, long runs on the beach, you name it.
This is how Sigmund spent much of his time in the car: Either in the back seat, belted in and sleeping... or he would ride standing on his shoulders. He also enjoyed riding in my lap - but I didn't take any pictures of that - we don't want any evidence!
Until our next post - check of this dog who only has 2 legs and totally gets around! It's crazy, cool and a little freakish, all at the same time!

Pug And His New Pal!
Update from Vacation:
Sigmund thinks vacation is just for him! He's diggin' it - big time!
This is just a quick update about his new friend Eli.
I know, I know - he's a German Shepard - and you all know about Sigmund's history with German Shepards! BUT - they loved each other!
Eli would put his mouth around Sigmund's whole head and play with him.
They would run around the house, wrestle and kiss. The funniest part - when we had enough and separated them - they would lay on each side of the door desperate to play with each other. Eli kept guard of Sigmund's room all night! He was his little friend!

Sigmund's Stylin'
That's his name embroidered on the side.
Patrick picked it out!
FYI:
We're on vacation for the next 10 days!
Sigmund's first trip to California.
Expect fun pics when we get back!
In the meantime,
Check this out for fun pooch events:
Purr-ty Kitty in the Pearl
Meet Torrey Kittee! (pronounced kit-tay, like my last name)
This is Sigmund's "sister"... A.K.A. the cat he chases around the house all day long! (She's feeling jealous that she doesn't have a blog!)
Pretty much - she acts like she hates Sigmund... even plotting his demise at night. Though lately, we think she might actually be playing with him - when she swings and bats her claws at his face. It's almost like she hides, then waits for him to come by, then gets him. And of course, he keeps coming back for more! No matter how many times she hisses and spits at him - he still chases her!
As for Torrey's picture up there... yes... she's on our balcony. 7 FLOORS UP! She loves to hang out up there. The first time - I couldn't move, breath of talk! I just pointed with a look of pure terror on my face and Patrick rescued her. Last week, she jumped up and missed! Patrick looked out to see her hanging by her front paws!!!!!! Good thing there's the 5th floor balcony below! She'll only really fall 2 stories... so I feel slightly ok about it! Poor kitty - she went from being an outdoor/indoor cat who could come and go as she pleased and rule the roost. Now she has that "dumb" dog around all the time!
